Create a bench with pallets
For a trendy and very casual bench, these are the palettes to choose! They allow you to create a bench made to measure in the blink of an eye by assembling a module for the seat and another for the backrest. You can play with length by multiplying the pallets or even with height by stacking them. Pallets can be purchased directly from large DIY stores, but you may be able to bargain for them at your local retailer. If you collect it from the street, always check the marking and never use a pallet with the MB symbol because it has been treated with methyl bromide, which is toxic to humans. In any case, watch out for splinters!
Once the pallets are assembled, all you have to do is arrange the seat and back cushions to maximize comfort. You can dress foam blocks yourself with fabric or find them in the right size in decoration stores.
Cushions to create a bench
Do you simply want comfort? You will then only need to add more cushions, quilts and other fine mattresses to create an ultra cozy environment. Stack the layers until you obtain the bench desired. When it comes to decoration, don’t hesitate to mix different fabrics and patterns for more style. For the back, cushions of all sizes will also do the trick while playing with accumulation.
A bench on a piece of furniture
If you have a piece of furniture strong enough to support the weight of an adult, it is entirely possible to transform into a bench. We are thinking in particular of cubes or storage chests which will be particularly suitable for creating a relaxation area without taking up more space. Finally, be aware that a simple, very deep bench can also become more comfortable, bench style, if you add foam to the seat.
A bench in an unused corner
Are you short on space but dream of a cozy corner? Take a look at spaces that are often forgotten: under a staircase, in an alcove or even at the end of a hallway. By installing a tailor-made seat – board, mattress or pallet – and a few soft cushions, you create a perfectly integrated bench seat. Practical and space-saving, this solution transforms an empty corner into a real reading corner or extra seating.
