The project, born with the aim of improving the travel experience and simplifying the communication of deaf customer signal, a community composed in its entirety From about 40,000 people and spread throughout the national territory, it is available in the main stations of Italy – Bologna Centrale, Florence Santa Maria Novella, Genoa Piazza Principe, Milano Centrale, Napoli Centrale and Roma Termini – and will be expanded further during 2025 on a national scale, starting with the high -speed ticket offices.
Thanks to this initiative, the deaf sign people can activate, in about 30 seconds, a LIS Video-interpretation service, which allows them to communicate without difficulty with Trenitalia staff for requests for assistance, information on services and further needs related to travel.
The project, in its first year of experimentation, has obtained a high rate of approval: 100% of deaf customers who used the service expressed a high satisfaction, a result obtained thanks to the reduced waiting times and the high quality standards offered. In addition, to ensure effective use of the service and high accessibility standards, Trenitalia staff, about 450 people from high -speed, intercity and regional business, was formed to meet the specific needs of deaf customers.
