Working in the tech field, this couple in their thirties fell under the spell of this completely atypical loft in the very trendy 11th arrondissement of Paris. With its different ceiling heights and levels, the property was unlike any other. But, at the time of the Covid crisis, the owners discovered all the faults of the property by remaining confined there all day: the small bedroom, certain completely blind areas such as the dressing room and the whole, in its original state, which deserved a good refresh. Especially since the owners were teleworking and needed a comfortable space for that. They contacted the Epicène agency to help them find a place to live where they feel good.
The brief was clear: how to preserve the charm of the place, with its somewhat particular identity, while gaining practicality and comfort on a daily basis.
Adapt to the shape of the home to make it more comfortable
There were three mezzanines on which it was not possible to stand. Most have been deleted. On the other hand, Isabelle Heilmann played on the different levels by creating, for example, an office separated from the living space accessible after climbing a flight of steps. To increase the light, she had the idea of adding glass openings everywhere. A window had a particularly original shape in the bedroom. Rather than changing it, the professional used this unique format by distilling lots of other geometric details into the apartment. “It served as inspiration for us,” she confides. In the end, the accommodation retained its originality while becoming very pleasant to live in on a daily basis. Completely successful bet.
