Courchevel is THE resort for stars, VIPs and influencers looking for luxury, but not only that. On the slopes, families fully find their place and enjoy the area without ever feeling out of place.
For years, Courchevel, known as “Courch” for close friends, cultivates this “bling-bling” image, and for good reason: the most exclusive resort in France welcomes the biggest international stars, the ultra-rich and influencers. Here, some VIPs land at the altiport by plane or helicopter, then ski for the day, weekend or week before heading to palaces and five-star hotels. In fact, the station Courchevel 1850 exhibits its luxury boutiques such as Dior, Fendi, Yves Saint Laurent, Rolex… and the visit is definitely worth a look. Regulars sometimes have the chance to meet the Beckham family, Prince William and Kate Middleton who own a chalet in Moriond, but also footballers like Zinedine Zidane, Olivier Giroud, or even the actresses Margot Robbie and Emma Watson. This February 14, on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, it was Laëtitia Hallyday who hit the slopes with Serge Varsano, staying at the Les Airelles palace.
So, obviously, when we were offered to spend a week with family in Courchevel, we already imagined ourselves being “task” among the most stylish skiers, dressed in branded down jackets or fur. Were we going to play a new version of Les Tuches in Courchevel? Far from it. This Savoyard village, integrated into the 3 Valleys area with its 600 km of slopesis not only aimed at stars: families and children are also kings. Courchevel has also been a “family plus” labeled resort since April 2010.
And to take full advantage, there’s nothing like an all-inclusive club like the Village Club Miléade, located in Courchevel 1650. Here, there is no need for a car, no need to do your shopping while walking in the snow with your arms full, and even less to cook after a day on the slopes. The club is the ideal option for a family ski holiday. And it ultimately doesn’t cost much more than renting, knowing that all meals are included, varied and of quality. Above all, the mini-club, free from 3 months to 17 years old, allows parents to ski as a couple from morning to evening, while the children enjoy on their own. The Miléade club is also the only family club in Courchevel, located just 150 meters from the slopes and 800 meters from the heart of the resort.practical ! Here, the real “stars” are the children and their parents: the atmosphere is warm, welcoming, relaxed and the activities are as entertaining for adults as they are for children. The youngest will also love dancing and cuddling the mascot “Miléo” who appears every evening. Other advantages: the view from the rooms, the panoramic terrace and the restaurant as well as the wellness area with jacuzzi, sauna and hammam, included in the package.
In the morning, the club leader takes the children by minibus to the ski school with the ESF of Moriond. Our three-year-old son had the chance to take his very first ski lessons: welcome to the Piou Piou! Welcomed with music and mascots, nothing less was needed to make them forget their big sorrow of the morning. The children mostly cry, sometimes in heavy snow, but emerge so proud of this experience. “I did the slope and a bump!” he exclaims after a few days. On the last day, all the children stand on the podium, like champions, for the medal ceremony, and as a bonus: above all, they gain confidence… In short, they are almost ready to hit the slopes in the coming years, with mom and dad, like the other children who have become bears, snowflakes and stars.
If you are going to Courchevel with your family, certain outings are essential for young and old, starting with the Rosière lake, located at the foot of the Avals valley in Courchevel Moriond : a magnificent walk where the enchanting landscape makes you dream. Also don’t miss Aquamotion, an aquatic and well-being center exceptional which offers a fun area for children, slides, a wild river, a pool with a view of the mountains as well as a heated outdoor space. A good moment of relaxation, to be favored on days when the weather prevents you from hitting the slopes. Finally, in Courchevel 1850, the Olympic ice rink is also worth a detour: it is even possible to attend shows and hockey matches.
In the end, the surprise is there: behind its elitist image, Courchevel also knows how to welcome families with simplicity and efficiency. Of course, the destination remains a little more expensive than elsewhere, but it is not inaccessible. By choosing the right packages and the right accommodation, it is entirely possible to experience a real family vacation, without feeling apart and without giving up pleasure.
