These aids cover between 40 % and 70 % of the costs, according to the family quotient and certain criteria which may vary from one CAF to another.
What vacation can we choose with Vacaf aid?
In 2025 in France, nearly 6,332 centers and establishments labeled VACAF offer the possibility of staying with family at sea, in the mountains or in the countryside. Depending on your CAF or MSA, these accommodations may include houses, campsites (tents, caravans, mobile homes, chalets) or apartments. You can opt for the formula that suits you: full board or half board to avoid races and cooking, or a rental for more freedom. Stays are also possible abroad, provided they take place in a center labeled Vacaf. For children, the choice extends to the colonies in France or abroad, with stays focused on languages, sport, art or culture. The duration is generally limited to 14 nights, and aid AVE is only granted once a year.
To use the help you are entitled to, it’s rather simple. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you are informed during the first quarter of the calendar year by mail or by email which indicates the amount of your care. Once you have received your notification of rights to the vacation help, here is what to do:
- Then go to the vacaf.org site.
- Choose the holiday department and then the type of accommodation and the services.
- Once your choice is made, call the establishment, it will then be responsible for calculating the amount of your aid and your dependent rest.
- If you suit you, simply send deposits to confirm your reservation.
- A month before departure, you just have to pay the rest.
In case you have not received a notification, but you think you are entitled to helping family holidays, you can contact your CAF or MSA service.

For example, this year, at the Caf de Paristhe amount of the AVF can go up to 1,100 euros maximum per stay for a family with three and more children. To the Caf de Saône-sur-Loirefor a family quotient between 0 and 500 euros, the maximum amount is 520 euros and at the Caf de la Gironde For a family quotient between 0 and 350 euros, the aid is capped at 650 euros.
AVF management is calculated on the cost of accommodation And therefore on the rental of the accommodation or the location, to which is added the catering in the case of a full board or half board package. In general, CAF and MSA support 50 to 70% of the cost of the stay. Note that the AVF can be combined with leisure vouchers (or ATL free time help), granted by CAF and MSA.
Who can benefit from children’s vacation help (AVE)?
The conditions to benefit from Help in children’s vacation (AVE) are the same as those concerning the AVF.
- Be beneficiary of a family service of CAF or MSA.
- Have one or more dependent children.

There AVE management is calculated in relation to the cost of the stay and the accommodation chosen. In principle, on this aid, CAF and MSA participate from 40% to 70%. Namely that the AVE is as cumulative with leisure vouchers (or ATL), paid by CAF and MSA.
The amount of the AV varies according to your family situation, your financial situation and the organization on which you depend. This year, in Paris for example, CAF pays 60 euros per day per child to parents whose family quotient is less than or equal to 350 euros. The amount reaches 120 euros for a child who benefits from the AEEH and who meets the same family quotient.
