After the euphoria of promises, the time of doubts has now arrived for generative AI. More and more questions are emerging about the real interest of artificial intelligence in companies. Most have certainly experimented with AI and are setting up use cases. Even if the first real productivity gains have been observed for certain tasks (preparing presentations for consultants, answering questions in call centers, research for legal professions, etc.), these tests have not led to a revolution in a multitude of processes. The massive destruction of millions of jobs and the emergence of new professions assisted by omniscient technology have not taken place.
Some companies are even starting to go back, like McDonald’s. Its trials of automated orders were stopped, apparently due to errors. An example that also resonates with a certain caution among economists.
