As he returns to the Olympia stage, Salvatore Adamo spoke to give his news. Today, the singer is doing well but… he’s “touching wood”!
Salvatore Adamo fans can finally breathe a big sigh of relief. And for good reason, a few hours from returning to the Olympia stage (he will perform there this Tuesday October 1, 2024), the Italian-Belgian singer spoke with THE Parisian about his health. And he wanted to be reassuring!
The news is good for Salvatore Adamo: “Everything is fine”
After a year punctuated by ups and downs in terms of health, the 80-year-old singer-songwriter can finally breathe. The one to whom we owe the hits Snow falls or even Insh’Allah admitted to getting better and better. Victim of pulmonary edema, an accumulation of fluid in the lungs which causes respiratory failure, in October 2023, Salvatore Adamo even had to postpone several of his concerts. A few months later, he confided to RTL that he had “a little over six months” to recover.
A year after this health problem, the man who will celebrate his 81st birthday next November therefore seems confident and serene. “Knock on wood, but everything is fine. I have regained my breath and my energy. The pulmonary edema has disappeared thanks to diuretic treatments”he declared to the Parisian.
Hard-working Salvatore Adamo? “It’s not in my character”
The artist, married since 1969 to Nicole Durant and father of three children, added: “I try to slow down as much as I can, but it’s not in my character. It’s always been a total gift, to be worthy of this privilege that I have to still be able to sing in front of an audience and do this that I love”. And Salvatore Adamo concludes: “I did six concerts, including the Grand Rex, and that’s fine. (…) At the Grand Rex, in June, I did two and a quarter hours. It was reasonable… Well, no… The problem is is that people come from very far away to hear a song. It would be pretentious not to play it..
Visibly refreshed, the singer is even preparing to unveil not one but two new records, including a double composed entirely of new songs. We should therefore hear about him for a few more years… To the delight of his fans!
