Josiane Balasko and her daughter Marilou Berry will soon be performing in the theater for several months. What creates tension between mother and daughter?
Invited on the 8 p.m. news on France 2 on December 17, Josiane Balasko and Marilou Berry came to talk about the project that they will defend together from next January on stage: the play That’s love. Together, they will tell the story of a mother who imposes herself on her daughter and her violent son-in-law one Christmas evening…
Marilou Berry “very, very much wanted to play with his mother”, Josiane Balasko
The perfect opportunity to put words to evils, and finally say things to each other. Which the Splendid star and her daughter have obviously never failed to do, judging by their complicity on set. “Josiane Balasko and Marilou Berry, you are going to spend all your evenings for four months together on stage at the Théâtre des Bouffes-Parisiens, starting in January. Is it going to be easy to live with your mother, to live with your daughter, every evening, every evening, every evening?”questioned Léa Salamé. To which the 42-year-old actress responded straight away: “Yes, otherwise we wouldn’t be here!”
“Marilou really wanted to play with her mother, and what’s more, the play helps to relieve tension. Because even though she is hateful to me, at one point she showers me with insults and insults. So that means we are relaxed afterwards!”then added his mother.
Josiane Balasko and Marilou Berry accomplices: “We almost find a child’s rhythm”
“Above all, I find that it’s still very rare to be able to spend so much time with your parents when you’re that age. You almost find a child’s rhythm in the end”added Marilou Berry, now 42 years old. His mother, Josiane Balasko, is 75, and his father, the sculptor Philippe Berry, unfortunately died in 2019.
The one who shares her life with the artist Le Diamantaire, father of her only son, Andy, born in 2018, finally concluded: “We realized that we were both going to spend our birthdays together even though we usually work.”
If mother and daughter have already shared the screen several times – notably in the film My dear children -, they have never appeared on stage together before. A golden opportunity for Josiane Balasko and her daughter who love “don’t care a lot about others” together.
