Located in Vincennes, this 77 m² apartment had all the charm of the old days: parquet floors and moldings. It also benefited from a double orientation and a good surface area. This couple had also fallen under its spell, but they only had two rooms even though they wanted three. They also hoped to optimize the space in order to increase the number of storage spaces. The other constraint was the budget, we had to be cunning to carry out the transformations without exceeding the initial budget. Mission impossible? Well no. They called on Bertina Minel Achitecture to have the ideal plan for them. The woman knew the architect with whom she had already worked and whose work she liked.
Move the kitchen to make a third bedroom
77 m² is a comfortable surface area for a couple with two children. But how can you have three bedrooms and a beautiful living space in less than 80 m²? This is the equation that architect Stéphanie Bertina Minel had to solve. His professional eye allowed him to immediately identify how to do it. “The entrance was oversized compared to the apartment, we felt that we could optimize at that level and then the kitchen did not correspond to their lifestyle, because they wanted one open to the living space. Quite quickly, it became obvious that we were going to move the kitchen to create a bedroom instead.” The entrance has also been reduced to enlarge the children’s bedroom space. A laundry area has been created at the entrance to the toilets as well as a dressing room in the master bedroom. And, to save time and money, it was the owners who redid the paintings. The decoration is a mix of tastefully chosen inexpensive furniture or materials and a few more designer pieces, quite strong. As a result, the whole thing is very well thought out and has personality. Above all, despite the three bedrooms, the space is well distributed and you don’t feel cramped at all. Shall we show you?
