Every year, the Hospital Foundation organizes its emblematic Yellow Coins operation and its famous yellow piggy bank. In 2026, it is possible to give your yellow coins from January 7 to February 7. For 37 years, this initiative created by the Hospital Foundation in 1989 has raised funds to improve the hospitalization conditions of children and adolescents in France. After Bernadette Chirac, it is now Brigitte Macron who heads the operation. For the 2026 edition, the Yellow Pieces operation does not seem to be centered on a single theme as sport was in 2024, but it emphasizes “improving the daily lives of hospitalized children and adolescents” through four historic pillars reinforced this year. The Yellow Pieces Gala is making a comeback in 2026 for a 4th edition: it is a major concert taking place at Paris La Défense Arena which will be broadcast on television on Friday January 30 at 8:55 p.m. on France 2. Like every year since 2016, Didier Deschamps is the godfather of the Yellow Pieces operation. David Douillet was godfather of the Cadeaux Jaunes operation until 2008.
Who is behind the Yellow Pieces?
The Yellow Pieces operation was launched in 1989 by the Hospital Foundation. Bernadette Chiracwife of Jacques Chirac, was the President of the Fondation des Hôpitaux from 1994 to 2019. From now on, the President is Brigitte Macron since 2019.
What is the Yellow Pieces operation for?
Since 1989, the operation of Yellow Coins helped finance more than 10,000 projects in hospitals For improve the daily lives of hospitalized children and adolescents. This year again, the donations collected help hospitalized children and adolescents and support thousands of projects in public and private non-profit pediatric health establishments, such as:
- Of the specific places for adolescents within the hospital (support of the first Maison des adolescents, in Le Havre, in 1999, then participation in the creation of the Maison de Solenn in Paris in 2004 and the dissemination of these structures in other cities in France)
- Family homes intended to facilitate the presence of families at the hospital
- Of the parent-child rooms
- Of the service facilities (development of games rooms, sports halls, equipment for school and hospital centers, creation of cooking workshops, organization of stays and minibus outings, etc.)
- Maintaining the link between hospitalized children and school
- Financing more than 2,800 decoration and furnishing projects
Each year, nearly 2 million piggy banks are available. Sofrom January, it is possible to recover in 8,000 post offices a cardboard piggy bank specially designed to store your Yellow Coins. This piggy bank is free.
What coins to give?
Operation Yellow Pieces accepts all the parts (copper and yellow coins, cents and euros). Thus, we can place the coins of 1 centime, 2 centimes, 5 centimes, 10 centimes, 20 centimes, 50 centimes, 1 euro and 2 euros. But also all tickets including foreign currencies and francswe can read on the website of the Fondation des Hôpitaux.
Where to deposit your Yellow Coins?
During the entire duration of the Yellow Coins Operation, bring back your coins (with or without a piggy bank) until the end of the operation :
► In all post offices in France and the overseas territories
► In one of the 400 Coinstar and/or Eurocycleur terminals in the Yellow Coins colors, located within large retail chains (supermarkets, hypermarkets) partners of the operation. The list of terminals will be available on the Yellow Pieces website.

Quite. Several options are available to you to participate in the Yellow Pieces operation:
► Make a donation online on the secure donation form
► Make a donation by SMS by sending DONATION by SMS to 92 111 (donation of 10 euros taken from the mobile bill)
► Report a piggy bank filled with coins in a post office before February 7
► Place your pieces in a Coinstar terminal until February 28
