In pre-departure preparations, treating yourself to this treatment at the last minute often seems like a good idea. However, to keep your skin beautiful, soft and radiant upon arrival, experts advise doing so several days in advance, in order to leave with perfectly prepared skin and to avoid unpleasant surprises.
As the holidays approach, appointments multiply and the beauty routine intensifies. Manicure, pedicure, coloring, blow drying or facial treatments are often on the to do list before departure. But there is a treatment that many travelers tend to schedule at the very last moment, to enjoy its effects for as long as possible once at their destination.
However, this habit is not without risk. Some treatments do not tolerate the conditions of air travel. In the cabins, the air is particularly dry, much more than what our skin is used to. Added to this are temperature variations and repeated friction of clothing, which undermine the comfort and radiance of the skin.
And there is one service that is particularly problematic: waxing. Fresha platform experts recommend doing it 48 to 72 hours before departure, and not the day before the flight. This gesture not only removes hair: it also leaves the skin more sensitive and delicate for a short time. For about two days, the skin needs to regain all its comfort and radiance. Exposed to the very dry air of cabins, it dries out more easily and stretches more. Feelings of discomfort, redness or ingrown hairs are then more frequent, particularly in the bikini area and armpits, where clothing rubs the most.
For those flying to a sunny destination, caution is even more important: freshly shaved skin is more sensitive to the sun. “Waxing is a great pre-vacation beauty treatment, but timing is everything“, explains Danielle Louise, beauty expert at Fresha. “If hair removal was carried out too close to the start, the skin may feel tight, red or lack luster.“
This advice also applies to facial treatments or aesthetic services intended to enhance the look, such as eyelash extensions, to be anticipated in the same way. The key to a great beauty routine before the holidays therefore remains anticipation.
A few days before departure, we focus on simple beauty procedures for beautiful and radiant skin. Good hydration, morning and evening, with a nourishing cream or moisturizer, keeps the skin supple and luminous. A gentle exfoliation before hair removal, then a soothing treatment after the beauty session, preserves the comfort and radiance of the skin. On the face side, a gentle beauty routine, based on moisturizing treatments, leaves you with a fresh, luminous and rested complexion.
