Fundamental presence in the territories, capable of offering spaces for aggregation and training to young people, counteracting virtual isolation and promoting intergenerational integration. The speakers, eight thousand structured ones, “but there are thousands of informal ones”, explains Don Riccardo Pincerato, CEI manager of the National Youth Pastoral Service, they are educational facilities that continue to offer places of discussion for young people, “generating”, explained the priest, “relationships of trust, active citizenship, prevention and well-being, study skills”. That’s why it is important «to stabilize the funds allocated to youth centers and oratories already provided for by law no. 206 of 2003″. The legislation recognizes the social function of oratories and youth centers and provides incentives for the activities of these centers to help them promote sport, solidarity, culture and to combat marginalization and deviance, and promote social integration. If these funds were stabilized, “integrated co-planning would be promoted by promoting the ongoing training of educators and animators and overcoming the discomfort of the speakers themselves in order to address the discomfort”. A sign of attention comes from an amendment promoted by Mariastella Gelmini and Giusy Versace, in the last budget law which provided for the creation of a fund of 500 million per year for three years to support and enhance the social and educational function of the oratories. «Thanks to the commitment of Minister Abodi, the Department for Sports and all the ministries involved», explained the Gelmini presenting the proposal during the Youth and Speakers event. Life beyond social media, «we published a first call in which almost 200 non-profit organisations, parishes and oratories participated. Now our goal is to make these resources structural, perhaps already on the occasion of the next budget law».
Among the 186 applications received, the Department for Sport – “Let’s remember that in our country half of the schools do not have functioning gyms”, recalled the minister Andrea Abondi – chose 21 projects, one for each region. «We want to combat abandonment, with a series of calls for inclusion and valorisation the speakers who are the consecration of this commitment, the place where hope begins to be nourished againnot only in the decoration of the places, but also with a training, educational and management model”
