Are you struggling to get a job? Industry could well be your lifeline! This sector is experiencing real growth and is establishing itself as a key driver of employment in 2025. A study* from the recruitment firm Hays, published this Tuesday, January 21, reveals that 90% of companies in the industry have encountered difficulties recruitment in 2024. A situation which logically impacts their activity, with certain companies being forced to give up orders for lack of qualified candidates. “The industrial sector’s order books are full, but the shortage of talent is forcing some to abandon projects», explains Frédéric Béziers Rose, general manager of Hays in France and Luxembourg.
This shortage in the industry is not new. Its origin is the aging of the workforce. So much so that within 10 years, the sector will have to recruit no less than 1.3 million pairs of workers to compensate for retirements, estimated between 800,000 and 900,000 by Roland Lescure, then Minister Delegate for Industry, in November 2023. Often shunned by young people, these vacant positions do not find takers. For what ? “Industrial employment areas struggle to attract candidates”points out Frédéric Béziers Rose.
