With a decree signed yesterday, the Archbishop, Monsignor Mario Delpini, has appointed as new directors of Caritas Ambrosiana Erica Tossani and Don Paolo Selmi. The appointments will be effective from 1 September and will have a three -year duration.
Originally from Bologna, 44 years old, Erica Tossani She has a degree in international and diplomatic sciences and has had different work experiences in the social sector. Ambrosiana in 2020 was landed in Caritas, he was appointed deputy director in September 2024.
Paolo Selmi59 years old, he was ordained a priest in 1991 and carried out his ministry in various parishes in Milan, also holding the position of dean, from 2010 to 2014 at Barona and from 2015 to 2021 to Affori. In January 2023 he was appointed president of the Casa della Carità Foundation “Angelo Abiani” in Milan and at the same time deputy director of Caritas Ambrosiana.
The new directors take over from Luciano Gualzetti whose mandate ends on August 31st. These appointments, as the Archbishop explains in the decree, are part of a “synodal reform of the Church and in the most particular one concerning the diocesan curia” to encourage an “internal reorganization” aimed at simplifying the curial structure and promoting greater coordination between Caritas Ambrosiana, the service for the pastoral of health and the service for social pastoral and work.
