The language of wood? Florent Pagny doesn’t know! The proof: in promotion for his new album, the singer talked about his money and wanted to set the record straight.
At 63 years old, Florent Pagny still doesn’t have his tongue in his pocket. Guest in Guillaume Pley’s podcast, Legendon October 12, he took the time to express himself on all the major subjects of his life, even the most personal.
Florent Pagny accused of tax fraud: “They returned the file saying it was not admissible”
The artist, who has almost 40 years of career, responded frankly to questions about his lifestyle and his personal fortune, even if he did not specify how many millions of euros he has in his bank account; we recall by way of example that according to TV Magazine he receives a salary of 500,000 euros per participation in The Voiceon TF1.
Florent Pagny notably returned to the accusations of tax fraud of which he was the victim in the early 2000s. Tried and acquitted several times, the artist finally decided to leave France with his wife Azucena and their two children, Inca and Aël.
“We should never have gone to court because their file was not good (…) And when the guys listened to our explanations on the financial arrangements that we had made with contracts, loans but paying the interest, doing things correctly, the guys understood. They returned the file saying that it was not admissible”first explained the singer. Before adding: “But the guys wanted to go to trial. They lost the first one and they lost the appeal. That just meant they were wrong to get into this.”.
Why did Florent Pagny leave France? “You tell yourself that you have nothing to do there”
Unfortunately, for the singer of the songs Load-bearing walls And Know how to lovethe affair did not remain secret… “The only problem is that with the media, when we announce that there is going to be a trial, we condemn you in advance (…) Afterwards when you have won, you do not have an article which says: ‘Ah excuse us, we were wrong, the trial really took place and in the end he is not at all guilty’”said Florent Pagny. And the one who is married to discreet Azucena adds: “I said, ‘No, it’s okay, we’re not turning shit around. The only thing I’m going to do now is get out of there. And I’m going to go live somewhere else.'”
Florent Pagny, who lived in Portugal and also has a house in Patagonia (Argentina) – and now in Burgundy, where he recently moved – has bitter memories of this period. “A country that does this to you, that mistreats you, that tries to break you, to piss you off, goes to trial, loses it, appeals, loses it again, and then no one talks about it, you don’t stay, you tell yourself that you have nothing to do there”he finally chanted. An unfortunate experience which nonetheless earned him one of his greatest hits, selling more than two million copies, My Freedom of Thought.
