In these days a lot has been told of Pier Giorgio Frassati, of his being, in his momentum of faith and solidarity, “normal” boy. Not by chance it is titled You are one of us The theatrical show, composed of dialogues and songs, dedicated to the figure of the young Torinese saint, canonized on Sunday 7 September 2025 (In the photo the portrait used for the stamp, ANSA). The temporal span of the musical takes place between 24 June 1920 day of the patronal feast of San Giovanni Battista and on 6 July the date of the funeral of Pier Giorgio Frassati. Two apparently related events, to which a large crowd of every social class, discounted at the festival less at the funeral of a young bourgeoisie, as Pier Giorgio, is taken for granted. Hence the question: who really is the boy who attracted the crowds for his empathy towards the last?
The show tries to answer. In the musical Frassati it appears little, on the other hand there are figures of fantasy and others inspired by real people around him who make his thickness on the scene, in a musical dedicated to him: the approaches are different, there is the figure inspired by the mother of Pier Giorgio who turns to an atheist psychoanalyst of fantasy, in whose study they take place most of the dialogues, in search of a rational explanation of the apparently irrational momentum, The character inspired by his friend’s father who a little warns, the dynamic is that of a co -Church of figures that together make the meaning of the choice of the Gospel, which passes not for rationality but for the commandment of love.
Made by The 100 Group, a group of professional artists gathered for this special occasion You are one of us It is the result of the editorial coordination of Don Emanuele Brusati, priest of the diocese of Lodi and vice -president of the Circolo Noi of the Oratory of Mairano. The original texts of the dialogues and songs were written by Marco Brusati, also belonging to the Circolo Noi.
But You are one of us It is something more than a common musical, because it is designed to be shared, to make young people know the figure of this holy boy who has already loved already alive: All the material to stage it (script, texts, musical songs, score choreography) is available for free online in the “toolbox” on the official website, available to schools, speakers, parishes, groups and anyone who wishes to represent it also with personalized adaptations. In fact, the show is written with a modular dynamic, which also allows you to shorten it or to make it only partially without complicating its understanding and use.
