For this canine behaviorist, these easy to train, intelligent and sociable dogs are undoubtedly “the best on the planet”.
Adopting a dog is not just a crush: it is a long -term commitment that requires reflection. Each breed has its specificities. A sports dog will not have its place in a small apartment without regular outings. A very playful animal can quickly be bored in a quiet house. But the personality of the master counts as much as that of the dog. Do we have time to devote to him? Are there children at home? Do we like big walks? So many questions to ask yourself before welcoming a four -legged companion. But then, how to choose the best dog to adopt at home?
Will Atherton knows something about it. This canine and clinician behaviorist regularly shares his advice on social networks. And he is categorical: according to him, certain breeds are easier to manage than others, especially for families or unofficial people. And if he should only recommend one, it would be without hesitation the Labrador. A breed he considers above the lot, at all levels. “Labradors are the best dogs on the planet,” he said in one of his online videos.
“Raised to be great with people and with other dogs, super intelligent”, the labradors combine all the qualities, underlines Will Atherton. “They were taught to be calm, relaxed and stable, and not to manifest any form of aggressiveness,” he said. Very attached to their masters, “they have an ardent desire to please” and are very receptive to food and games, which makes their education easier. They learn quickly, love social interactions and are of flawless loyalty. Result: “They really constitute the ideal companion for the family,” said the expert. Obedent, affectionate, easy to live, it is “dedicated, affectionate and loving dogs that get along well with everyone.”
But beware: no breed is perfect for everyone. A poorly stimulated labrador can become destructive. A little dog too alone can barked constantly. Before choosing, it is better to find out, meet breeders or adopters, and above all ask the right questions. What is his lifestyle? How long do you have? Is the environment suitable? A dog is not a toy or a decorative accessory: it is a sensitive being, with its own needs. And for the relationship to work, the master and the animal must correspond.
