While several candidates actively looking for work are currently facing fierce competition, many permanent contracts are reaching out to them in this region of France…
Every year, September stands out as a key month in the job market. Online, the phenomenon is relayed by the hashtag #WorkTok which already has more than 25,000 publications on TikTok, a sign of real enthusiasm. But behind the hype, the observation is very concrete: offers of permanent positions multiply during this period, benefiting those who want to relaunch their careers after the summer. According to France Travail, the number of permanent contracts registered in the first quarter of 2025 increased by 1.9%. A positive signal, even if access to stable employment remains very unequal from one region to another.
A study carried out by the JobLeads platform compared the number of permanent offers available in April 2025 with that of job seekers in each department. And it turns out that competition varies enormously depending on the territory. In the most difficult areas, such as the Pyrénées-Orientales, there are nearly 39 candidates for each permanent position. Even in densely populated departments like Seine-Saint-Denis, tension is high with a ratio of more than 32 applicants for a single offer. Pas-de-Calais, Aisne and even Haute-Corse are also experiencing a complicated situation, marked by a weakened economy and seasonality which limits professional stability.
Conversely, certain departments show much more advantageous figures. In Manche, for example, a little less than eight people compete on average for each permanent contract. Loire-Atlantique, Haute-Savoie and Mayenne also have rates which allow us to hope for rapid hiring. These territories benefit from diversified economies, demographic dynamism and even attractiveness linked to quality of life. However, it is in another region that the prospects appear most favorable. According to JobLeads, the department in the lead is that of Rhône, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, with 25,877 permanent offers for 201,660 job seekers, i.e. a ratio of 7.79 candidates per position.
This performance is partly explained by the diversity of sectors established in the region, from the pharmaceutical industry to digital technology, including research and engineering. Competition there remains much more measured than in most French departments. And the phenomenon is not limited to this territory alone: the neighboring departments of Haute-Savoie and Savoie also appear in the top 10, confirming that the entire region stands out in 2025 as the most conducive to obtaining a long-term permanent contract.
