Since the 1980s, Sylvie Vartan has shared her life with her second husband, the discreet producer Tony Scotti. A man radically different from her but who completes her, as she has just revealed in an interview.
Sylvie Vartan returns to the stage. Well, almost. After her farewell to the public, the singer will be at the Palais des Congrès in Paris on May 12 for a masterclass. On this occasion, the star, now 81 years old, gave an interview to La Tribune Sunday. She recounted the highlights of her life, including her marriage to Tony Scotti.
Sylve Vartan and Tony: opposites attract!
In the pages of the newspaper, the performer of hits La Maritza And The Most Beautiful to go dancing was effusive about the qualities of the man who has shared her life since 1981 (and a marriage in 1984): the American producer Tony Scotti, with whom she has lived for a long time in Los Angeles. “Tony helped me a lot to open up. He is the complete opposite of me, very approachable, cheerful and deeply Italian“, she confided, assuming for her part that she was not “someone very friendly“and looking for much more”calm and solitude“.
But, for Sylvie Vartan, Tony is much more than a wonderful husband, she also highlights his qualities as a father. “Tony came into my life at a pivotal time. David was 12 years old, an age where everything can change. He gave him much more than balance: confidence, stability“, she swears. As for her late first husband, Johnny Hallyday, she assures that he “was aware of Tony’s qualities“. The couple also adopted Darina, in Bulgaria, when she was only 7 months old.
How did Sylvie Vartan meet her husband?
Sylvie Vartan met her second husband Tony Scotti in the early 1980s… when he was still married. “It was in Tokyo, Japan, during a music festival. Honestly, I fell in love at first sight. I didn’t believe it myself. I told myself that I was certainly making things up. There was something reassuring about him, he was a handsome man“, she previously confided to Gala.
And the star, recently seen at Nathalie Baye’s funeral – during which her husband apparently felt a little unwell – added: “He seemed upright, honest, with a lot of humor and great kindness for others. He and I come from the same family model.“
