A global star, he is a true creative who is not afraid to think outside the box. This time he is trying a new discipline with a chair with a very personal creation.
A complete artist, a jack-of-all-trades, he is often where you least expect him and he has never been content with music. After exhibiting his paintings and imagining a collection of ceramics, this British singer is now tackling a new universe: design. His latest project? An armchair designed like a cocoon, designed to offer much more than a simple moment of comfort.
It is alongside the Dutch brand Moooi, renowned for its daring and refined creations, that the singer makes his first attempt as a furniture designer. Together, they present The Introvert Chair, an armchair with enveloping lines and carefully selected materials. The seat is covered in a blend of virgin wool, alpaca and cotton, to create a soft, thick seat that invites you to relax. For the singer, its rounded design evokes the sensation of a hug and transforms the object into a real refuge.
The shape and name of the armchair are no coincidence: they reflect the personality of its creator, sensitive, introspective and in search of balance. This project was born from an intimate approach: the singer explains that he wanted to imagine a space capable of calming, echoing his own experience of social anxiety. “In a world that never stops, I needed a place to breathe,” he confided during the presentation of the chair. Design here becomes an extension of one’s personal journey, a way of expressing one’s emotions and one’s search for serenity in a different way. Robbie Williams, the former frontman of Take That and singer of Angels, has created with The Introvert Chair an object that is both surprising and consistent with his creative career.
The armchair is available from Moooi with matching cushions, designed to allow everyone to create their own cocoon. Robbie Williams also imagined a bold plaid, a true work of art, which provides a sort of user manual for the armchair. The price of these creations – 3,895 euros for the armchair, 345 euros for the cushions and 225 euros for the throw – reserves them for a privileged audience. But above all, this collaboration had the merit of revealing a new side of Robbie Williams: that of a creator who transforms his need for comfort into design.
