If Alain Souchon is delighted to share the stage with his sons, Pierre Souchon, 53 years old, and Ours, 47 years old, both born from his union with Françoise, they hesitated for a long time before agreeing to take part in this adventure. “I asked them. For me, it was extremely nice to be with my two guys, but at the same time, they each have their own path. This should not interfere with the work of Pierre and that of Charles (Ours, editor’s note) who do very different things.“, explained the 81-year-old singer, at the microphone of Franceinfo.
It must be said that his sons, notably Ours, both wanted to distance themselves from their father for a long time. “This idea of going on tour together took a while to take hold. Before, I needed to never mix with my father“, confided the singer and guitarist, who notably shared the duet 22 with Lily Allen. When he was offered to participate in shows with his father, the young man refused: “I needed to go through this, to prove to myself that I could do it“.

Then, little by little, Bear found himself more comfortable with the idea of being seen with his famous father. “We were invited together for 2-3 events, like charity concerts. We did it once, we liked it, then we did it again in a nursing home to help out“, he said.
And added: “Afterwards, we got a lot of offers to do this tour and we refused for several years, because I was doing my own thing and my father was on his tour. It was not at all obvious“. Finally, both sons got the “click” and agreed to go on tour with their father: “We said to ourselves that we were going to put our career stories aside. We are very close friends in life, so why not really do it? I think we would have regretted, later, not having done it“.
Why did Alain Souchon’s son choose Ours as his stage name?
For his career, Ours (Charles, his real name) has also chosen not to use his last name as a stage name for several reasons. “I come from a time when a lot of people have nicknames, it’s more fun and more poetic rather than having your civil name. I chose a nickname for lots of reasons and also perhaps this one, I didn’t want to highlight the name ‘Souchon’, which already exists on many records“, he detailed.
