The dream of working in Cinecittà or, why not, in Hollywood is cherished by many, but achieved by very few. Well, there is a new opportunity for anyone who aspires to work in this world. From the academic year 2026-2027 Academy Cinema is born, the new three-year course of the Holden School of Turinwhich will join the already existing one Academy Writing.
The two study paths allow you to obtain a diploma equivalent to a three-year degree at DAMS. The idea behind the birth of this new course is to focus on writing through images: training the screenwriters of tomorrow. The goal is to create authors who are versatile and multifaceted, especially thanks to the person who will prove to be an invaluable help for students: Alessandro Barrico. The principal of the school he will be a central point of reference for teaching, and with his lessons he will guide those attending the course.

But the visual languages that will be analyzed during the three-year period are not limited to the cinematographic world: reel, shorts, photographs, memes, etc. In short, all the formats encountered nowadays. Don’t imagine endless manuals and handouts, the lessons will be practical and will involve all members of the class.
There are three key teachings of the program: the Writers’ Room for screenplaysthe path of Narration and the laboratory of Assembly. These are accompanied by the teaching of skills necessary to work and move in today’s world. They are called Contemporary Humanities and are learned through five disciplines: Harmony, Design of the mind, Intensity, Figures, Instability.

For now, three masters of Cinema have been confirmed: Davide Serinoauthor of the TV series M-The son of the century And The Bad Guy will teach Screenplay, Adriano Valerioscreenwriter and director winner of the David di Donatello and the Special Nastro d’Argento Award in 2014 for the film 37°4Swill be the master of Gazea second-year course. To teach Assemblyinstead, it will be Andrea Campajolacomposer of the documentary’s soundtrack Searching for great beauty.
This year Holden’s focus will be on the right to study, to ensure that an ever-increasing number of students can access the courses offered by the school. Grants and benefits will increase, always taking into account the various income groups. They are expected 6 scholarships which will fully cover the costs for those who enroll in the Academy.
