Advice from our sports coach to stay toned.
A maximum of devices to vary the exercises and the areas to tone, sports coaches to receive good advice, a sports environment that motivates… The gym appeals to many fans… but not you? No problem. You can monitor your figure very well and stay toned (very important when you get older) without going to the gym. Here are the tips from Vincent Pirou, sports coach in Paris, for strengthening muscles and taking care of yourself while staying at home or enjoying the outdoors. The important thing is to have a good time!
► Create short circuits of 15 to 20 minutes, alternating dynamic movements such as burpees, knee raises, jumping jacks and static movements such as core training.
► At the same time, do light cardio such as climbing stairs, dancing, walking.
► Adopt a gentle activity such as yoga or pilates at home to fairly completely strengthen the entire body, while reducing tension.
► Review your eating habits: no more draconian diets and ultra-processed products. Vincent Pirou recommends focusing on meals rich in vegetables, various proteins (fish, meat, eggs, legumes) and good fats (olive oil, walnut oil, avocados, oilseeds). “Hydration is also essential. It is recommended to drink between 1.5 and 2L of water per day to support your metabolism, maintain the quality of the skin and promote your ability to concentrate on a daily basis.”
► Get enough sleep: sleep is often underestimated. However, sleeping 7 to 8 hours per night is essential for memory, immunity, muscle recovery, good maintenance of shape and weight, as well as good stress management.
Finally, it is essential to achieve good results to find your balance: “This involves learning to manage stress using deep relaxation or breathing techniques to help soothe the mind, and therefore improve one’s general state of health. More generally, the creation of a fun routine (dancing to your favorite music, walking in nature, stretching session, etc.) can help you stay motivated in the long term.” informs the sports coach. Up to you.
