As the fires continue to rage in Los Angeles, Sylvie Vartan wanted to provide her support to the victims of this city that she knows inside out. And for good reason, the star settled there almost 40 years ago!
Invited on the set of Laurent Delahousse, this Sunday January 12 on France 2, Sylvie Vartan appeared very moved at the mention of the fires which have devastated Los Angeles since the beginning of the month. Sylvie Vartan “haunted” by the fires in Los Angeles: “These are images of the apocalypse”
For several days, a large-scale natural disaster has struck Los Angeles. Extremely powerful fires are destroying the city of stars – Laeticia Hallyday, for example, lost her house in the Pacific Palisades district – which is preparing for a return of violent winds in the coming hours. Currently, 12,000 structures (homes, businesses and shelters) have already gone up in smoke, and 24 people have died.
A very heavy toll which greatly worries Sylvie Vartan. “These are truly apocalypse images, which disturb me a lot and which cause me a lot of pain,” she said, her voice shaking. Before adding: “I have a lot of friends who have lost everything… And all these people who are completely in despair. It’s really something unthinkable… How in the space of a few hours, lives are turned upside down until they are destroyed (…) Words are lacking. I admit that I lack concentration because I am haunted by the images that I see..
Sylvie Vartan’s house threatened by fires in Los Angeles?
“My prayers and thoughts go out to all the victims and the people of Los Angeles, this city dear to my heart”Sylvie Vartan subsequently wrote on her Instagram account. It must be said that David Hallyday’s mother knows the City of Angels very well: and for good reason, she set down there for the very first time in 1977. And her son spent part of his childhood there.
Forty years later, the woman who will bow out at the end of the month on the stage of the Palais des Congrès in Paris still resides there with her husband, the American producer Toni Scotti. Together, they took up residence in a villa with a swimming pool located at 706 Beverly Drive, in the Beverly Hills neighborhood. For the moment, their residence is safe, which is located only a stone’s throw from the terrible fires affecting Los Angeles – but the area concerning the main fire extends from Brentwood south up to Bel Air .
