Ebony won against Franck in the “Star Academy” semi-final. This Saturday, she will face Lilloise Marine in the final. And she will be able to count on the support of her famous father, but also that of an actress.
The grand finale of the 12th season of Star Academy fast approaching. It is this Saturday, January 25 that the two finalists will face each other live, on TF1: Lille’s Marine and Ebony, who is none other than the daughter of singer Thierry Cham.
“The votes of the West Indies are not counted”
The latter is unanimously unanimous among its teachers. The 20-year-old young woman was never nominated this season, and therefore won the semi-final between her and Franck hands down. This week, it is therefore a 100% female final that the two artists will offer to viewers. And if Ebony can of course count on the support of her father and her fans, she is also supported by an actress well known to the French, Firmine Richard.
This one also gave quite a rant live last week. “I want to say to Ebony because I know she will win: Ebony, all the West Indies are with you! I ask the diaspora to vote for you because the votes from the West Indies are not counted, it seems”she first said. Before reiterating: “In front of Marine, she will win. We must count the votes of the West Indians! It is unacceptable that the votes of the West Indians are not counted”.
Dramatic twist at TF1, a voting procedure deployed “urgently”
A speech which earned TF1 some clarifications. “It is above all a technical problem which does not allow us to offer residents of overseas departments, regions and communities the opportunity to play by telephone and/or SMS as part of the interactive games offered during our programs”the channel said on its site.
But according to the latest information from ParisianTF1 has decided to deploy “in emergency” a voting procedure in Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, Réunion, Mayotte, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy to allow them to vote from 5:30 p.m. daily on January 21. However, it is not possible to send SMS , the procedure being “too long to put in place in such a short time frame“. Only calls will be counted in the Antilles.
Ebony facing racism: “Don’t judge me by the color of my skin”
Since the start of her glorious journey, Ebony has been plagued by racist and sexist attacks on social networks. And she seems aware of it. After her victory in the semi-final, the young woman even delivered a poignant message in the interview room: “When I met the troupe of dancers, my interpretation of this song totally changed. It became something stronger, deeper, and it was more of a message to say ‘don’t judge me by to my skin color'”.
“I hope that little black girls have heard this message and that they don’t listen to the criticism, that they are proud of their skin color, that they are proud of their hair, that they are proud of where they come from, we always need to come and send little messages of tolerance like that.”declared the finalist who added: “A black woman, in truth, it must be said what is in society, life, she is not like the others”.
