Arthur recently almost fell into depression. But the 60-year-old host and producer knows that he has enormous responsibilities, particularly towards his employees…
Arthur’s life changed after October 7, 2023, the Hamas attack on Israel and the subsequent war with Palestine. Affected by the images of violence he saw, the 60-year-old host then quickly decided to raise in public the problem of the rise of anti-Semitism in France. But at what cost?
Arthur, traumatized: “I didn’t want to fall into depression”
Having become polarizing since his positions, Arthur, who invested in an Israeli company which helps disabled people walk again, is now forced to move around surrounded by bodyguards on a daily basis. However, he insists, in a recent interview with Galaon the fact that he does not want to be “the spokesperson for the Jewish community” In France.
“I speak only in my name. If some people find themselves in what I express, then so much the better and, in some ways, that reassures me. Like many, I chose not to close in on myself. I especially didn’t want to sink into a form of depression“, assured the man who still regularly has nightmares about the war, and who is even thinking of getting help from EMDR therapy on the advice of his wife Mareva Galanter.
The producer, who has his own audiovisual production group, called Satisfaction Group, believes that he cannot let himself get down despite certain mental health concerns: “I have 2,500 employees, behind them there are families, lives, responsibilities. I am not going to stop everything today because I am ‘post-trauma of October 7’. On the contrary, we must continue to move forward and explain“, he explained.
Arthur, helped by his wife: “If there is a heroine…”
And the father of Samuel, 29 years old, born from his former love with the actress Léa Vigny, Aaron, 17 years old, whom he had with Caroline Nielsen, and Manava, 11 years old, fruit of his love with Mareva Galanter, to specify: “My job is to entertain people, to bring a little lightness to a world that has become very heavy. Of course, there are mornings more painful than others, days where we move forward with immense pain inside, but as the Americans say: ‘The show must go on’.”
If Arthur starts to turn around, he’s “become a zombie“for many months at the start of the war.”The children asked why I took naps in the afternoon when, usually, I was working like crazy at the office. I had become a zombie at home“, he confided to Parisian. But he was always able to count on the support of his wife: “If there’s a heroine in all of this, it’s my wife. She held the family at arm’s length for two and a half years“.
