Never stingy with secrets, actor Michel Boujenah recently revealed that he shot this cult film in very special conditions.
Did you know? To play one of his greatest roles – which still earned him the César for best supporting actor in 1986 – Michel Boujenah was forced to wear diapers!
Why did Michel Boujenah wear diapers on this shoot?
Guest on the legendary red sofa of Roll on Sunday on March 1, Michel Boujenah indulged in some confidences. The actor, now 73 years old, did not fail to recall how badly he was on the set of Three men and a bassinetthe successful film by Coline Serreau. “Didn’t you twist your testicles one day too?”said a hilarious Michel Drucker.
“If you look Three men and a bassinetyou don’t have to watch the whole thing, but just watch a little bit… If you remember, I walk like this. Do you know why? Because I have diapers! I have real diapers!”then said the actor, who is sheltered from want. Before telling: “I have diapers on because on a shoot just before I had been hit with the butt of a rifle. It was Trip to Paimpol (…) I had been in a lot of pain, and it had passed. I go home, it was the last day of filming, we were starting The Bassinet two days later…”
Michel Boujenah shot this film “lying on a stretcher”
An anecdote which, if it did not fail to make its interlocutor laugh, was not amusing at the time: “In the middle of the night I woke up with a pain that was terrible. My father, who was a doctor, I called him, I said to him: ‘Dad, I think I have a problem’ (…) He arrived home, and hop the ambulance, the hospital, the operation, and I started The BassinetI was lying on a stretcher with doctors, IVs… They took off my IVs, I was going to act, and then they put me back on.”
And Michel Boujenah, who is starring in the play All the family I love at the Théâtre des Variétés, to continue: “The problem is that when you have that (…) it’s that as the filming progressed, I had less and less pain, so I no longer had diapers. Except that Michel Serrault told me: ‘But Michel, you can’t change your approach, you have to walk like that until the end.'” Result: Michel Boujenah ended up asking the “women who diapered the baby on set” of him “put on a diaper so you don’t forget” !
