The Swedish giant IKEA has just issued a massive recall for a flagship product on its shelves.
This is a message that no one wants to receive after having furnished their home, but vigilance is required. The Swedish furniture giant, IKEA, has just issued an emergency press release concerning a major manufacturing defect affecting hundreds of thousands of units sold around the world, including in France. The company, usually known for its rigorous safety standards, asks its customers to carry out an immediate audit of their installations. In question? A risk of serious domestic accident which could occur without any warning signs in the most frequented living areas.
The internal investigation revealed a structural anomaly in a very popular range of electrical products, widely distributed in recent years. The danger identified does not concern simple aesthetic wear, but a technical design defect. According to reports, the insulation of an internal cable is found to be insufficient, creating a critical vulnerability. In the event of minor handling or damage, this defect directly exposes the user to a risk of potentially fatal electric shock.
If you own a product from the NYMÅNE lighting range, you are potentially affected. The recall targets wall/reader models (in white and anthracite) as well as double wall lights. These lamps, appreciated for their minimalist design, hide a risk of electrocution if they were produced by a specific supplier identified under the number 23241. The manufacturing dates concerned extend from the numbers week 17 of the year 2022 to week 50 of the year 2025 (AASS marking 2217 to 2550). IKEA insists: if you have one of these models, you should immediately stop using it and unplug the appliance as a precaution.
Identifying information (supplier number and manufacturing date) can be found on a self-adhesive label. For simple reading lights, you must remove the light source to see the sticker inside the lampshade. For double models, the label is located on the back of the structure. The exact references to watch out for are 203.569.09 and 504.152.24 for single versions, and 204.286.47 for doubles. Don’t take any chances if the numbers match, even if the lamp appears to be working perfectly today.
The return procedure is very simple. IKEA undertakes to provide a full refund for each product, without requiring a receipt. All you have to do is return the wall lamp to any point of sale.
