Good news: salaries are expected to increase slightly in 2026. While the job market in France seems devastated, certain fields are actively looking for candidates. One profession in particular stands out.
What do you have to work in to hope to have a salary increase in 2026? The international recruitment and temp agency Pagegroup recently conducted a vast study based on 900 different professions spread across 25 sectors of activity. First observation, the firm affirms that after “average increases
between 1.5% and 2% in 2025, the average increase should remain similar in 2026.” No blank year for your wallet and that’s already good news!
But above all, the study highlights these professions that are increasingly sought after by companies. If we already knew that thousands of positions are to be filled in national education as well as in the hotel and catering industry or personal assistance professions, other areas are also facing a shortage of candidates. “Despite a tense context, strategic sectors such as industry (energy, defense, aeronautics, etc.), logistics, IT, and even
finance continue to have strong recruitment needs“, we can read.
And one job stands out. For what ? Because at the start of his career, he promises a salary which has increased from 40,000 euros per year in 2024 to 45,000 euros expected in 2026. That is a very nice increase of +12.5% in two years! The job in question? Cybersecurity engineer. “Thousands of positions, sometimes several tens of thousands, remain to be filled each year in France (…) The demand is such that some graduates find a job even before the end of their studies“, also affirms the specialized site, Cyber-security.fr. And whether it’s an SME or a multinational, employers are in demand!
What does a cybersecurity engineer do? His job: protect companies from possible online attacks and secure their computer access. He is also responsible for analyzing and dealing with possible threats and intrusions into the computer system of the company to which he is attached. In terms of studies, you generally need to have a Master’s degree and universities like those of Caen or Rennes offer a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity.
