A new socio-educational and female dormitory center in Salento. It is the House of Charity “San Giuseppe” which is inaugurated on January 29th a Melissanprovince of Lecce e Diocese of Nardò – Gallipoli.
The event begins at 6 pm with the Eucharistic celebration in the Parish Blessed Virgin Maria del Rosariochaired by Cardinal Konrad Krajowski, Alms of Pope Francis, and concelebrated Monsignor Fernando Filogranabishop of Nardò-Gallipoli. Subsequently, at 7 pm, the official inauguration ceremony will take place at the headquarters of the new structure, in via Leonardo da Vinci, 21.
The house of charity “San Giuseppe”, created thanks to the design of the diocesan Caritas of Nardò-Gallipoli and the FOndi 8xmille to the Catholic Church, It was born within the structure owned by the BVM parish of the Rosary.
Without the commitment and will of the Melissanese faithful, explains the diocese, it would have been impossible, however, that the project took shape. Everyone did their utmost, making available time and resources, in different ways so that this work could be made. It will offer a concrete response to the needs of the territory, including a socio-educational center for support for study and fighting cultural poverty, a listening center and a dormitory for women in uncomfortable situations. This work is part of the Network of Services of the Diocesan Caritas, which already manages Solidarity Empors in Copertino and Casarano, canteens in Gallipoli, Nardò and Casarano, the male dormitory of Gallipoli and the Boncore socio-educational center.
The new structure will be entrusted to the operators of the Caritas Parish of Melissanounder the coordination of the diocesan Caritas, with the aim of offering welcome, support and opportunity for redemption to those who live moments of difficulty.
This project, explains the diocese, “represents an important sign of attention to social fragility and collaboration with local institutions, which, despite the commitment of social services, often meet emergency situations with limited resources . The house of charity “San Giuseppe” will be a place where concrete charity translates into welcome and solidarity, offering dignity and hope to those who need it ».
