An international ranking reveals the most innovative schools in the world. The only French establishment there is a very nice place, and it is thanks to its very specific operation.
When we do higher education, it is important to choose the establishment in which we are going to register. It must be ensured that the content of the teaching corresponds to its desires and expectations, but also to its professional projects, that the system and the way of teaching work for yourself … Even if it is possible to achieve its objectives otherwise, the reputation of the school where you have studied can help open doors. It is therefore a criterion to take into account. Parents and students are generally invited to inquire with the establishment, people who have attended it or even professionals. It is also possible to consult the different rankings made in this area and, among them, there is the Wuri (World University Rankings for Innovation).
This world record highlights innovative higher education institutions by assessing many criteria, including their teaching approaches and their efficiency, in particular. The 2025 ranking has recently been unveiled and, Cocorico, a French school is there! It even offers itself a beautiful place, since it appears on the podium, in front of many particularly renowned establishments, as MIT (5th), and the universities of Stanford (6th), Berkeley (10th), Harvard (11th), Princeton (14th), Cambridge (15th) or Oxford (25th). This is school 42, which is third, behind Minerva University and Arizona State University. It thus earns three places compared to the ranking of last year.
School 42, which offers computer training, is very specific, since it is based on an educational model which radically contrasts with more classic higher education establishments. It works without teachers and lessons, preferring a participatory approach, based on “peer-learning”, that is “peer learning”. It is therefore based on mutual aid, but also on project learning which allows students to work in a creative way. School 42 is also distinguished by others from its characteristics, starting with the fact that it is accessible to everyone, without a diploma condition. The only criterion is to be at least 18 years old. It is also completely free. It has a campus in Paris, opened during its creation in 2013 on the initiative of Xavier Niel, but also a network of 50 partner campuses which are in more than 30 different countries.
This performance in the Wuri ranking confirms that alternative educational models, such as that of school 42, can compete with the largest world institutions. By focusing on innovation, inclusion and creativity, this French school proves that it is possible to reinvent higher education while reaching excellence. A strong signal for all those looking for a different path, but resolutely turned towards the future.
