“It was not an easy time for my parents”

While TF1 has just announced the brand new casting of the jurors of The VoiceLara Fabian confirmed her presence in the program. The 55-year-old singer will therefore team up this year with one of the show’s regulars, Florent Pagny, but also with Amel Bent, already present in 2023, and with a new addition: Tayc. The career of the interpreter I love you is therefore in good shape. But his life has not always been a long, quiet river.

In an interview given to the Petits Frères des Pauvres association a few years ago, Lara Fabian spoke openly about her childhood, which was sometimes difficult. “My most extraordinary Christmas memory is the memory I have of when I was eight years old (…) I wanted to wear a little special dress but unfortunately this little dress was difficult to access for my family and for myself. It was very, very complicated”explained the mother of Lou, the daughter she had with Gérard Pullicino in 2007.

Lara Fabian grew up in a relatively modest environment and sometimes felt it, particularly at Christmas time: “Every time we passed this little store (…) I remember saying to my mother, ‘it would be great if one day I could have this little chocolate striped dress’. Already at eight years old I was keen to be elegant on Christmas Day. And each time I saw myself being refused because it was a bit complicated, it wasn’t an easy time for my parents at that time”.

Lara Fabian moved by a gesture from her parents: “It’s perhaps the most intense joy I’ve felt.”

“On Christmas Day, while we were preparing the table and arranging the presents, I see that there are two presents under the tree and not three. And indeed I realize that it is not going to be the most incredible Christmas”told the one who shares her life with the Italian magician Gabriel di Giorgio.

But at the time, Lara Fabian was faced with a nice surprise: “As we are at the table, and the clock strikes midnight, I see my mother coming from the kitchen with a sky blue piece of paper. And I seem to remember from my childhood that this is perhaps the most intense joy I felt. And then I really saw the tears of emotion in my mother’s eyes”.

Finally, Lara Fabian did indeed have her much desired dress. “I opened the package: obviously it was the little chocolate striped dress in silk and velvet that I still have, that I kept. And which was perhaps the most incredible symbol of the effort they had to make to ensure that that Christmas for me was extraordinary”she said, moved.
