The new almoner of His Holiness, Luis Marín de San Martín, until now undersecretary of the General Secretariat of the Synod, is an Augustinian.

Pope Leo, conferring on him the dignity of archbishop, appointed him in place of the cardinal Konrad Krajewski, at the same time transferred to Lodz, his hometown in Poland, as metropolitan archbishop of the diocese.
Krajewski, who in 2022 was also appointed Prefect of the Dicastery for the Service of Charity, is therefore leaving the alms ministry after 12 years of service.
His role was particularly delicate, especially during the Covid pandemic when he organized vaccinations and care for the homeless and the most fragile people. Born in 1966, with a decisive and practical temperament, he had intervened directly several times by distributing food and blankets to the homeless, opening laundry servicesshowers and shelters around Italy, doing the shuttle between Italy and Ukraine since the first months of the invasion by Russia.
They stay famous images of him when he intervened to reconnect the light to an occupied building by 450 people to ensure the survival of children and elderly people who had found refuge there.
The small community of homeless people in St. Peter’s Square also grew up around him with health services, showers and the provision of Palazzo Migliori.
