With its grandiose shows mixing history and emotions, the Vendée park has revolutionized the world of family leisure. Today, this French success story is about to write a new chapter with a titanic project that challenges all standards in the sector.
Lovers of amusement parks and historical shows can be happy: a new major family destination is emerging on the horizon. After having won the hearts of millions of visitors in Vendée, the unique concept that mixes history, live shows and strong emotions is about to take a new step. This expansion could well revolutionize leisure in Europe, offering parents a quality alternative to American entertainment giants. For visitors, it is the opportunity to discover a hexagonal know-how exported successfully, while enjoying a change of scenery guaranteed during their next vacation.
Puy du Fou officially filed its building permit for a new theme park. A few years ago, he established himself in Spain by opening the Puy du Fou España to Toledo in 2021. Now, it was in the United Kingdom, in the Oxfordshire, near Bicester, that the Vendée park intends to export its concept. This pharaonic project represents a colossal investment of 600 million pounds sterling and promises to be even more ambitious than its predecessors. The future British park will offer 4 vintage villages and 13 major living shows retracing the history of the United Kingdom, as well as three thematic hotels, restaurants and a conference center. As Olivier Strebelle explains, CEO of Puy du Fou, in a press release transmitted to Le Figaro: “We only submitted these plans after a vast consultation, which lasted more than a year and included six events in person and more than 250 individual meetings.”
If all authorizations are accepted, “The new park will open by phases from 2029”, Can we read in the press release. Up to 1.47 million visitors expected each year once the site is fully developed. Beyond the entertainment aspect, this project has a remarkable environmental dimension which should seduce more than one. The park provides for the planting of 20,000 new trees, the creation of 40 acres of wild flowers meadows and the development of a new 20 hectare forest. This environmentally friendly approach is perfectly written in the current concerns of visitors.
For visitors, the location near Bicester, 80 kilometers from London and accessible by the M40 motorway, represents a considerable asset to organize a stay combining cultural discovery and historical adventure. The project should also create 2,000 direct jobs and generate an economic impact of 500 million pounds per year for the region, testifying to the exceptional magnitude of this new adventure of Puy du Fou.
