“Let’s create a future of equality“: is the slogan that animates theOxfam festival, the exhibition dedicated to human rights, justice, equal opportunities and cooperation promoted by the NGO. The third edition, which takes place in Florence on 25, 25 and 26 Octoberfocuses on the issue of economic justice, in a way in which deepening inequalities hinder the fight against poverty and hunger.
Over the course of three days politicians, writers, journalists, scholars and representatives of civil society exchange ideas and propose ideas for debate and reflection. The festival opens on the 24th evening with an event entitled “Notes and words for Gaza”: an evening of art and testimonies during which actors and artists will take the stage to give voice to the stories of courage and resilience of the Palestinian civilian population of the Gaza Strip.
Among the events scheduled for the following days is the meeting “Rethinking the current economic system starting from fairer and more inclusive business models”in which, among others, Don Luigi Ciotti, founder and president of Libera, and Anna Fasano, president of Banca Etica, participate. And then, the meeting “Resource or cost? The contribution of migrant labor to the economy and welfare of our country”, which sees among the speakers the economist, former INPS president, Tito Boeri. And again, “Does work (in the feminine form) make you free?”a reflection on how gender prejudices and stereotypes perpetuate inequalities by hindering women’s ambition and professional growth.
The festival concludes on the evening of the 26th with the ceremony of the third edition of Oxfam Award “Fighting Inequality – It Can Be Done”recognition for those who have distinguished themselves in reporting on and addressing inequality. The complete program on: festival.oxfam.it
