Slight decline in sight. After a historic low of 1.10% in 2021, the average interest rate paid on euro funds for life insurance contracts has risen for two years: 1.92% in 2022, then 2.60% in 2023, according to the ACPR (Prudential Control and Resolution Authority). A dynamic which should end in 2024, since the average return on guaranteed capital supports is expected to be 2.50% on average by the Facts & Figures firm.
However, we must keep in mind that this is an average, which may hide significant disparities in performance across the more than 1,000 contracts that we have identified in 2023. According to Cyrille Chartier-Kastler, founder of the Good Value for Money firm, which compiles the rates for these different products each year for Capital, the gap should however be narrower in 2024 than in 2023, with returns which do not will not exceed 4% for the best euro funds, and which will go down to 1.20% for the worst.
The best rates are currently for mutual insurance companies
An anticipation which has already been confirmed for the top of the basket, since two mutual societies which will undoubtedly appear at the top of the ranking have announced their good performances from January 1st. Ampli Mutuel has thus announced a rate of 3.75% net of management fees* used on the euro fund of its life insurance contract. For its part, Garance, accustomed to serving among the best rates on the market for several years, reported a yield of 3.5%.

Among the major events of this month dedicated to the performance of savings contracts, we will also note, on January 15, the announcement of the rate that the French Savings and Retirement Association (Afer) reserves for its 750 000 members.
