No need to spend two weeks on the shores of the Mediterranean to look sunny. A blush color gets a lot of attention. At first glance, it’s a little scary. However, once applied, the result is stunning.
For a long time, blush came in pale pink, peach or coral. Colors that are easy to wear, look good and that’s it. But beauty trends change quickly, and this summer, another shade is stealing the spotlight. On Instagram as on TikTok, she keeps coming back in makeup videos and we understand why.
At first glance, many are hesitant to try it. We immediately imagine cheeks that are much too colored, results that are difficult to blend, or makeup that doesn’t work for everyday life. In reality, it’s quite the opposite. Once the material is worked on the skin, the color blends surprisingly well with the complexion and gives a much more natural result than what the product in its packaging suggests. It is this contrast that intrigues makeup lovers so much.
This trend was recently brought back to the forefront by Chloé Bleinc in a video published on Instagram. She shared a remark that immediately caught attention: “I actually saw that the more you use a red blush, the more it really has a sun-kissed effect.” A phrase that pretty much sums up what many people are looking for in summer. The idea is not to have rosy cheeks like after a walk in the middle of winter, but rather that warm color that appears naturally after a day spent outside.
In this logic, the color that creates this “return from vacation” effect is quite simply… red. Yes, a real red, the one that many would have left aside thinking it was too flashy. Several references perfectly illustrate this trend, such as the Après shade by Merit, Berry Smoothy by Bourjois or Ambre Rouge Fumé by Violette_FR. It brings this warmth reminiscent of a slightly sun-kissed complexion.
As for application, makeup artists recommend applying the material fairly high on the cheekbones, then moving it up slightly towards the temples. Some also put a veil over the bridge of the nose to reproduce the areas that naturally get the sun first. EtcContrary to what one might believe, this color works on a large number of skin tones.
On fair skin, it brings a freshness reminiscent of the tan of the first days of summer. On matte or dark skin, it accentuates the luminosity of the complexion without becoming dull. It’s all a question of dosage. A few touches are more than enough, even if it means adding more gradually.
