The probable cause of poisoning would be the consumption of cheeses contaminated by the Listeria bacteria. These cheeses were all produced by the company Chavegrand. These are pasteurized milk cheeses, soft or flowery or washed crust like camemberts, coulommiers, creamy, bries, gorgonzolas, goat logs … “They were marketed until August 9, 2025 by the cheese dairy throughout the national territory as well as internationally, under different trademarks “ Can we read in the press release. People who have these cheeses at home should not consume them. Those who would have consumed it and who would present fever, headache and aches are invited to consult their attending physician by reporting this consumption. Same thing in the event of symptoms similar to those of gastroenteritis (diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting). Listeriosis is a rare disease (approximately 400 cases per year in France) but serious and its incubation period can go up to 8 weeks.
People at risk of serious forms are pregnant women, newborns, immunocompromised people and the elderly. These subjects must avoid consuming the products most at risk of contamination: cooked or raw cold meats consumed as it is (cooked or raw ham, frost products, foie gras, pâté, rillettes …), seafood (smoked fish, tarama, raw shells, etc.) and certain dairy products (raw milk, soft cheese with flourished or washed crust, etc.).
