Frédéric François, expected soon on stage at the Olympia, delivered a touching and personal memory linked to the birth of his daughter Victoria.
At 75, Frédéric François is the idol of an entire generation. After 40 years of career, he continues to fill theaters all over France, but also in Belgium and Switzerland where he is a real star.
Frédéric François: the incredible story of the birth of his daughter
On November 16, he will perform once again at the Olympia where he has already played no less than 18 times. But each of his visits is an event for him, as he maintains a special bond with this room… And for good reason: it is here that he learned of the birth of his daughter Victoria!
An anecdote that the interpreter of My heart tells you I love you recently said on RMC: “It’s the truth, I swear to you it’s the truth. We had asked to put in a telephone and a special line connected to the hospital, I don’t remember which one, in Belgium. And so I went out, I ran to my dressing room, I quickly dialed the telephone number and they told me ‘still nothing.'”
And to Frédéric François to continue: “And actually, the last song, when I sing ‘I love you Italian style’, I go backstage, of course it’s at the end, and they say to me ‘There, it’s a granddaughter and her name is Victoria'”. Before concluding this beautiful anecdote: “And the next day, I took a private plane to go to the clinic of course to congratulate my wife and take photos with Victoria. And I came back to Paris because I had a show at the Olympia”.
Frédéric François and his wife experienced a “painful event” : “We had started to prepare everything”
Married for 55 years to his discreet wife Monique, Frédéric François is spending happy days with his first and only love to whom he said yes just a year after they met in Belgium, their native country. Together, they had four children: Gloria, Vincent, Anthony and Victoria. But the couple also experienced an extremely difficult ordeal: a late miscarriage when Monique was pregnant with twins.
“It was a painful event. We had started to prepare everything for their arrival. Then, we had to go to the hospital urgently, and we were told that we had lost them. It took time to get over it. There was a phase of depression, it was a nightmare. We decided very quickly to have another child. That’s how Victoria arrived. It helped to ease the pain. But a loss like this is not forgotten.”declared the singer in the columns of Ciné Télé Revue.
