In love as in the first day since 2016, Mathilde and Antoine have decided to unite in their own way. An adventure rich in twists and turns that the bride tells us.
Organizing a wedding as most couples do, it was not really to Mathilde and Antoine. They, what they wanted above all was celebrating love in the broad sense, surrounded by their families and their close friends. Their love story began in 2016 on the famous Tinder application. “After a few dates, we fell madly in love and since then we never left”, says Mathilde, 29, who is social media manager in life. One day, they decided to organize a surprise wedding, like them, without informing their friends. The idea has also emerged a little by chance.
“Last year, Antoine was going to celebrate his 30th anniversary and we said that we should do something with our loved ones. It was then that I had the idea of preparing our surprise wedding for the day after. Everyone was going to be united, it was the perfect opportunity. And for us, it was important to surprise our friends, to offer them this moment and to show them the love that we wear.” explains Mathilde to us. After having the idea, the couple quickly invested in the preparations for marriage, with the help of their parents who were the only ones in confidence.
But planning a ceremony in the largest of secrets, in addition to a birthday is not the easiest. “In my opinion, there is much more stress to organize everything in hiding. Antoine even made it sick the day before the event. Also, having to manage everything at a distance was very complicated. We live in Lille and we wanted to do the ceremony in Perpignan, at my mom. More than 1,000 km separated us from the providers and the mayor “, details the young woman. And when it was necessary to find a pretext to bring together all the guests in the same place, the bride and groom had to use imagination.
“I have set up a story from scratch. Upstream, I had warned our friends that they were all invited the day after Antoine’s birthday at my mom to eat a paella. My mother is known to make a very good one. We had planned a bus to take everyone and we also pretended that my mother lived in a fairly remote village, so it was more practical to go there because”, says the future bride. On the morning of the big day, the young couple left before everyone else, this time inventing the excuse that they had to buy shrimp for the meal. In reality, they were preparing to do their wedding photo session. At the scheduled time, the guests went on the bus without suspecting anything.
“The coach deposited them in a specific place in the village. My sister and my brother welcomed them with a small glass of muscat, and they then accompanied them, not with my mother, but to the town hall. No one knew the village so it could take. And when he arrived at the town hall, they discovered the decor, they heard the music and saw the mayor with his scarf. There, they understood what was going on! Remember Mathilde. All the guests were moved, even if it is true, some were also frustrated not to have the right hold. “For the anecdote, my witness came in pajamas, because she thought she was going to my mother in all relaxation. It earned us a big laughs. Most came to the cool, and we laugh again”, she recalls.
Finally, the whole ceremony took place as Mathilde and Antoine had planned, even better than what they had imagined. “Beyond having said ‘yes’ to the love of my life, we also shared a wonderful moment with our loved ones. We all got into our arms. It was ultimately the moment of communion and love that we wanted from the start”, concludes the bride.
