No upheaval. No electrocution on the way of Damascus. The story – spiritual and life – by Nicoletta Romanoff is one: an intertwining of heaven and earth that takes the form of that vine mentioned in the title of its autobiography, such as the branch to the vine. The challenge of remaining on the way to God, published by Rizzoli: “Having faith is something that mixes and integrates perfectly with daily life”, explains the actress.
“I didn’t write my biography to tell a sensational conversion.” His, in fact, is a journey: «I am today and I was already when I shot the film remembered me, directed by Gabriele Muccino. I simply have decided to tell it now ». It does so in a hundred agile pages that begin with a heartbreaking mourning, that of the suicide dead brother, and end with another, the death of the father, which took place just as he was writing this autobiography.
For many, faith is a private fact, to be told to a few intimate or in any case only to those who can understand. Instead, she makes it the magnifying glass of her life: why?
“When I speak of my relationship with God, they often compare it to friendship: it is not a private fact, but has private aspects. With a friend I can in fact go to dance, make a trip or have a clash, even publicly, but then always with the same friend I can have more private conversations that I do not share with everyone. Here, I live my faith in this way ».
In the book he underlines that, when we are wrong, God “always recalculates the path”. Is he who is faithful to us, rather than vice versa?
«God never gives up us. It is we who sometimes lose ourselves. It is no coincidence that in the subtitle of the book I talk about the challenge of staying with him: there are moments in which you feel very spiritually, then a moment later you get lost and divert from the track. However, God always comes to trace us because I am important for him, both when I ignore him and when I love him. It is like in the relationship between mother and son: you put in the world that creature and you love him regardless “…
