“We entered a time when cudelity has become normal”, bitterly ascertained Flavio Lotti (president of the Perugiassisi Foundation for the culture of peace) presenting the new edition of the Perugiassisi of peace and fraternity march, in the name of the motto “Imagine all the People”, scheduled for Sunday 12 October. “The march”, adds Lotti, “will be a gesture to organize the resistance to the cruelty that are multiplying in the world”.

This year there will also be a march in the march: the March of girls and boys for peace. It will be a contribution to the realization of one of the last major projects of Pope Francis who, inaugurating the first world day of children, said: “We gathered here at the Olympic stadium to give the kick -off to a movement of girls and boys who want to build a world of peace, where we are all brothers”. The presence of about 2 thousand children is expected for this event which will start from Bastia Umbra at 10.30 and will end in Assisi at 12.30.

Sunday will open at 7 with the Mass celebrated in the Basilica of San Pietro in Perugia with Ivan Maffeis (Archbishop of Perugia), Giovanni Ricchiuti (president of Pax Christi Italia), Father Alex Zanotelli and Don Luigi Ciotti.

The march will be preceded by the UN assembly of the peoples who will take place in Perugia from 9 to 12 October 2025: an original meeting of international civil society that is resisting all the cruelty of the world, the Genocide dam, the escalation in Ukraine, the carnage of Sudan and too many other parts of the world, the racing to rearm, the growth of injustices, inequalities, self -acting and the destruction of democratic international law. And who wants to build the alternative.

At the end of the Perugiassisi march of peace and fraternity, in the Rocca Maggiore of Assisi, the event will take place from 13.30 to 16.30: “Stop the genocide of Gaza!” – Choral appeal against complicity, silences and hypocrisy.

But there are many meetings that are outlined to the march. They are on the calendar: the general states of doctorande and doctoralists in peace studies promoted by the National Network of Italian Universities for Peace; the national meeting of the peace schools; the National Assembly of Local Authorities for Peace and Human Rights; the information on information promoted by Article 21; The conference “for an economy of peace” promoted by the Coop Umbria League.

A great participation is expected from all over Italy. The Perugiassisi march and the UN assembly of the peoples have already collected the adhesion of many people, 597 associations, schools and local authorities: 512 national and local associations; 191 schools; 250 Municipalities, Provinces and Regions (data updated on October 3, 2025).
