It’s no secret: Patrick Sébastien and Marie Myriam had a love story at the end of the 1970s. A most passionate relationship which lasted two years and during which the two stars of the small screen are even engaged. But since love stories end badly (in general), Marie Myriam and Patrick Sébastien ended up separating after the latter discovered that she had been cheated on several times. Guest on the set of Jordan de Luxe on November 26, the presenter of Largest cabaret in the world agreed to come back to their story…

Patrick Sébastien made some confidences about his romance with the woman who won Eurovision in 1977. “It wasn’t the greatest love of my life, but we had a beautiful story. I was already her first man, which is what counts in a woman’s life”he first declared before returning to their equally chaotic separation.
“It moved me, but I was very young, I was passionate about it, something that will never happen to me again”he said. The 71-year-old artist said that in 1979, Francis Cabrel and Marie Myriam opened for his show… and that the atmosphere was not always good! The singer had just left Patrick Sébastien and he, being heartbroken, could not bear to listen to Francis Cabrel singing love songs on stage…
“Today it’s funny, but at the time it was very painful. We went on tour together: I was in the spotlight, she was in the American role, Francis (Cabrel, editor’s note) was starting and it was seriously tense because she left me (…) And the other idiot who sang ‘Petite Marie’ or ‘I love him to death’, I said to him: ‘But shut up!'”.

“It was folkloric, I fought with her guy (Michel Elmosnino, artistic director of Polydor, editor’s note). It was a western… A confusion”even detailed Patrick Sébastien on set. From now on, the former host and Marie Myriam have remained on good terms: “Today we laugh about it a lot but because it was a kind of passion but which still left something strong since my granddaughter is called Marie, my son wanted to call her Marie because of that We have this distant tenderness, she was present at my mother’s funeral… It’s a love from afar that is part of the family.”.
Moreover, both of them could well have become parents together, but Marie Myriam’s father and mother had decided otherwise. “She was indeed pregnant and her parents were not keen on her having a child”concluded Patrick Sébastien.
