A good deal, accessible from your smartphone, could well save you up to 50% on your next stays, the perfect opportunity for a relaxing break with family, a festive week with friends or even a romantic spa weekend .
We’re not going to lie, when you add up the rental of a chalet in the mountains, the ski lift package, transport and the raclette budget, the bill generally turns out to be hefty. The same if you opt for a vacation in the sun! This is why a team of researchers wanted to lighten your wallet by highlighting a survey with surprising results.
Indeed, there would be significant price differences depending on the reservation method chosen. According to consumer expert Helen Dewdney, these price differences seem “totally absurd”. She points out that families, particularly those planning their vacations during All Saints’ Day and Christmas, find themselves paying an exorbitant price for their stay, without being aware of it. If for many, the classic process consists of consulting a website on a computer to organize their trip, other options would be much more advantageous.
The study in question focused on the example of an apartment at the Royal Tenerife Country Club, on the Canary Islands. Using one of the classic booking methods such as the Booking website, you will pay on average €237 per night for a stay in autumn. However, if you decide to use the Booking application, from your mobile, you will pay on average €182 per night.
And the observation remains the same, out of 35 hotels analyzed: 30 of them displayed higher prices on their website than on the mobile application. Indeed, the promotions would be more present on smartphones than on computers, in order to more easily lure the customer and encourage them to download the application in question.
