During the examination of the 2025 Budget, senators extended by one year the possibility given to employees to monetize their RTT days. A measure passed with the support of the government.

The right of employees to buy back their RTT days will it be sustained? These workers have the option of monetizing their days or half-days of reduced working time not taken from January 1, 2022 and until December 31, 2025. A deadline extended by an additional year by the senators, Monday, November 25, during the examination in public session of the finance bill (PLF) for 2025. The members of the upper house have in fact adopted an amendment to the elected representative of Maine-et-Loire Emmanuel Capus (Les Indépendants – Republic and territories) aiming to “secure the RTT monetization system (…) in order to give visibility to the employees and employers concerned”. This proposal, therefore extending the period of redeemable RTTs until December 31, 2026, received the support of Laurent Saint-Martin, the Minister of Budget and Public Accounts.

Monetization of RTT tax-exempt
Good news, therefore, for employees affected by RTT and who receive approval from their employer. And for several reasons, since these recoveries not taken are paid taking into account an increase corresponding to that of the first overtime hour, i.e. 25% without company or branch agreement and with a floor of 10%. In addition, the sums received for RTT redemptions are exempt from income tax within the limit of 7,500 euros per year, as are from social security contributions for old age insurance, only the CSG and the CRDS (at the rate of 9.7%) being taken.
For make a redemptionan employee must make an express request to his employer, whether or not he is free to accept it. No limit on RTT days is set: it is therefore possible, on paper, to pay for them in full as part of monetization. But be careful, the employees on a day packagewho benefit from rest days – and not RTT – are not eligible for this measure.
