Trying to combat the main energy, educational and food poverty of our time (3P), since 2017 the Snam Foundation has been carrying out sustainable experiences that see volunteers and a territorial network made up of 14 people at the forefront who, with their commitment, try to involve all the group’s employees. A way of operating that allowed Snam to approve the policy on corporate volunteering, allowing colleagues to dedicate up to three working days a year to volunteering.
2025 was a year particularly full of activities, “Legami Solidali” began in March, here it ranges from gardening to cleaning urban areas, to entertainment activities aimed at the most needy people. An initiative that is repeated several times during the year, involving institutions and other partners and creating a solidarity network in the area.
In collaboration with Lama Impresa Sociale, Snam has created “E-lab” (“Empowerment Lab”), a path of tutoring online where volunteers put their professional skills at the service of third sector entities supporting them in their organizational and planning growth. The “Donate to learn” volunteering program promoted together with the Italian Accenture Foundation has been ongoing since 2023, developing training courses for Italian school students with particular attention to territories with social, environmental and economic critical issues. The project also includes the donation of hardware to the schools involved with the aim of reducing the gap, or digital divide, in institutions and contributing to the fight against child educational poverty.

“Together for others” was born in the fight against food poverty which took place from 6 to 16 October (World Food Day) in 21 Italian cities, involving 48 organizations and third sector entities. With this initiative, Snam employees, colleagues and suppliers have made it possible to move 130 thousand kilos of food, of which 28 thousand recovered, and approximately 34 thousand meals prepared and served.
The long-awaited solidarity markets of the Snam Foundation were repeated in December. An opportunity to get to know the main companies that operate every day up close alongside the most vulnerable people, supporting them with the purchase of products or gift ideas for solidarity purposes. The markets are present in 13 Italian cities and among the formulas this year too there is a contribution to the Italian Red Cross, Milan committee, where, through donations, it will be possible to offer food, clothes and toys to people in vulnerable conditions.
In 2025 the results achieved by the Foundation are eight programs implemented, over 80 thousand beneficiaries reached, more than 1,550 participations in initiatives by volunteers, 1.4 million euros invested, over 6,900 hours of volunteering donated and over 10 thousand of training. A social commitment that is based on the role of active citizenship and on the importance of social inclusion projects according to what the Snam Foundation calls the so-called “3Ps cubed”: economic support to implement the initiatives, training to generate lasting change and the active participation of company volunteers who are increasingly protagonists of change.
«From support to schools to the fight against food poverty, to social inclusion initiatives, volunteering is the engine that allows us to create authentic and lasting bonds in the area, thanks also to the commitment of our people, who donate time and skills to serve the communities», he clarifies Alessandro Zehentner, president of Snam and Snam Foundation. «It is no coincidence that this year we have recorded a growth in the territories and beneficiaries involved, with over 1,500 participations by Snam colleagues in the planned volunteering initiatives».
