Passionate about renovation since her dad gave her the virus, Amandine has worked miracles in this modest home in the Basque Country. Focus on one of the rooms which needed a lot of freshening up.
Six months. This is the time it took Amandine Bellekens, from the account @amandine_bellekens_ on Instagram, to renovate this house from the 1970s. Accompanied by VELUX®, the Auvergne based in Bordeaux tackled a large-scale project: floors, walls, plumbing, electricity, insulation and decoration, nothing was left to chance and she did everything while respecting a budget of 40 000 euros.
If the ground floor has changed, the upper floor of the house has also taken a leap in time and the change of era is radical. Formerly stifled by dark woodwork and parquet flooring, not forgetting this wallpaper from another time, the first bedroom of the premises has been transformed into a true cocoon of serenity.
This wow-effect transformation is based on a key architectural element: the installation of VELUX® roof windows. By freeing up the view and inviting the sun’s rays inside, they completely change the perception of space. Natural light no longer just illuminates the room, it enlarges it, warms it and brings it back to life.
Because a successful renovation goes beyond the structure, Amandine has of course imagined a scenography where each material invites calm. On the right, the terracotta accent wall brings organic depth, while the wicker headboard and the woven pendant light breathe a bohemian lightness into the whole. To perfect this refined atmosphere, particular attention was paid to the touch: the bed linen, signed Le Jacquard Français, brings this note of timeless elegance and absolute comfort. Enough to allow Amandine and her guests to get into trouble, literally.
In this cocoon of well-being, every detail has been designed to make brightness the main player in a peaceful and soothing daily life. To go further, find all the advice, tips and other pitfalls to avoid listed by Amandine on the VELUX® YouTube channel.
