We all knew this kind of dark wood buffet. Passed out of fashion, there is nonetheless a beautiful room which only asks to become the star of the living room or the dining room. Find out how this renovation fairy offered him a new look, and with him, a new life
Indispensable in the interiors of the French a few years ago, our elders can testify, the cherry furniture is less and less in the blow … In question, its warm color, ranging from light rosé to red brown, which rushes over time, and the idea that this type of furniture is associated with a slightly loaded decor. Result ? We shunned, deeming him too old.
However, this noble, massive wood, often used for buffets, dishes, dining room tables, dressers, or chevets, is very solid, which is why these furniture cross generations without flinching. So, even if you can no longer see your furniture in painting, rather than reminding it in a attic corner or getting rid of it squarely, why not make it up?
Romanesque of the @esteem.vintage on Instagram account specializes in the restoration of old furniture. With a lot of patience and know-how praised in the many comments that accompany her videos, she brings back older furniture pieces that were just waiting to be brought up to date and those of their (new) owners. As proof, this beautiful buffet in cherry, entrusted by one of his customers. Once the feet of the latter removed to lighten it, it was then sanded in the flat surfaces and then Romanesque used the aerogommeuse for all the details and moldings.
FYI, aerogommage is a soft and precise stripping method, ideal for renovating wooden furniture without damaging them. It consists in projecting a thin powder (such as bicarbonate or mineral powder) with compressed air. Enough to remove varnish, wax or paint. Unlike conventional sanding, aerogomation reaches the slightest corners, even on carved furniture, and leaves raw wood, ready to be transformed.
Once these first steps are, and not least, finished, Romane was able to apply a white shade on the entire furniture. The goal? Reduing the reddish side of the wood and the rendering is simply superb!
Thus revamped, he offers himself a new life, integrates wonderfully into the chic country decoration of the client and becomes the strong room again, the furniture of vintage charm that he was formerly, but fully in the air this time!
