Will be presented next January 27Remembrance Day and 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, the film premiered in the New Hall of Parliamentary Groups in the Chamber of Deputies Velia Titta widow Matteotti (in the photo above, a still photo of Julia Nosik) Vittorio Pavoncello.
The film was made, by ECAD and Zhivago film, with a contribution from the Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi, through the Mission Structure national anniversaries and national and international sporting events, on the occasion of the Matteotti celebrations 1924-2024.
The cast of the film is very particular because, you see Giorgio Tirabassi give voice to the socialist politician murdered by fascist squads on 10 June 1924, Titta Ruffo, brother of Velia, played by Andrea Ruggeri who will also be Domenico De Ritis, the fascist spy who infiltrated the Matteotti house, while Velia Titta, the widow of Giacomo Matteotti is played by Theaterforinclusion a group of Ukrainian women refugees in Italy since 2022 (Alona Kriuchkova-Anzhelika, Azaieva-Beksultanova, Olena-Ewa, Shapovalova-Irina, Shapovalova-Iryna, Lupan-Nadia, Melnyk-Olena, Kurovska-Olga Vecheria, Ulyana Firych, Yuliia Nosyk , Anastasiia Petrovets). Other interpreters are Marco Macauda and Maurizio Venturini. Giulio Bottini is the director of photography, the music is by Roberto Mongardini.
January 27th is celebrated around the world Remembrance Day, and the presentation date of the film dedicated to the widow Matteotti will be the opportunity to give rise to a unique structure of memory, placing the present as the key to the past. The synopsis of the film can already give an idea of what director Vittorio Pavoncello defines as “an agitated memory” or “memory in action”. Because some Ukrainian women who have taken refuge in Italy, to escape the war of 2022, find themselves captured by a theater that lives in the era of fascism.
Giacomo Matteotti and Velia Titta are the absent protagonists of a dream, which comes alive with their lives. Ukrainian women will discover some analogies with Velia’s life and theirs, in a passage that will lead them to understand how freedom and Europe are founded on the values of anti-fascism.
