Alexis Lebrun facing “a complicated period” despite a “exceptional season”
On the occasion of the WTT Finals, which took place in Japan this week, Alexis Lebrun detailed his crazy year to RMC Sport. At the age of 21, Félix’s older brother admits, this year was not “Not bad”. “It’s an exceptional season. There have been ups and downs, very lows even. I think I’ve had a crazy year. It’s a defining year in my career and my life”confided the bronze medalist at the Paris team Olympics.
If he admits to having first lived “a complicated period” where he “didn’t play very well”he finally knew how to take this year with its share of ups and downs. “Despite this period of less good, I managed to make a final in the European top 16, a title of champion of France in singles and doubles. It was quite exceptional in terms of emotions to feel in a moment more hard and achieve such performances in major competitions I was happy with that Then there was the world team championships where we experienced something crazy (…) Apart from the World Cup. I played pretty badly, the rest I managed to get something out of it. That’s all I’ll remember.”he added.
Alexis Lebrun has “went through a difficult time” : “I’m still growing up.”
Asked what this difficult phase had brought him, in his life and in his game, Alexis Lebrun declared: “I think that the fact of having gone through a slightly more difficult moment and having managed to accomplish my main objectives, it allowed me to progress a lot and to evolve well, whether as a player, but also in life”.
And the young man, whose new notoriety earned him the opportunity to share an advertisement with his brother for Nintendo Switch, concluded: “I’m still growing up, I’m still young but I think it’s changed me a lot and it’s taught me a lot.”
